Default Post-Update Farming

Welcome to the new era,

Right before the update, I had been playing around with farming different areas because I got ridiculously bored of shiroken farming. I've already tested out several areas post-nerf and found there are several overarching trends to the new, successful farming season.

I'm going to post one fairly decent area. If you wanna bitch about it or complain, go away. Constructive Criticism only.

Ok, here we go...
I'm a 55 artist, so the build is standard (slightly mod'd)
PS, HB, mantra o' resolve, SOJ, Blessed sig, balt spir, Mending (Use scalp swap to reach +4 and then swap back for max smiting), blessed aura (Or essence bond if you really want)

The farming zone: this is a repost of an old farming zone that either I put up or improved on (can't remember, if its not my original, props to whomever it was).

Ice imps + Ice golems outside of ice caves of sorrow. All casters, so they don't run away from SOJ. In fact, they stick on you like bread on butter (mentioned in several areas due to the casting spell renewal 'bug').

Things to watch out for: running out of energy in the middle of maelstrom (maelstrom is your biggest energy engine, but it also drains your energy fast via resolve, so be careful). Try to move out of maelstrom before casting the big SOJ. Takes 2-3 SOJs to kill ice imps and golems, depending on the aggro.

The imps are easier if your DP is up a bit. If you have a normal armor set, you can accumulate 60 DP and still be able to complete the run - so don't give up and warp to town only to trigger antifarm.

Bring shiverpeak keys - I've found that chests are fairly golden (6 out of the 8 I've opened have been gold - may just be luck or it may be that this area is underfarmed).

I'm playing around with some other places, but this run is challenging, fun, and material profitable (not to mention chests). Enjoy!

Edit: Forgot to mention outside of Marhan's Grotto too, but that's fairly obvious.

Edit:
Well, another farming area revamped:

R/N Pongmei farming
Use the FOW forest ranger solo build, swap in throw dirt, whirling, soul feast, and needling shot. Keep kindle arrows, dual shot, poison arrow, troll unguent.
Make sure your expertise is 13 (to hit the 2e breakpoint). Aggro groups of 3, spread the degen, and shoot down one target at a time. Remember to keep kiting.
With this build, you can kill everything in a wide area at nearly the same pace. Wardens, stone kirin, undergrowths, jade brotherhood, yetis => all will fall

Thing is, they drop pretty frickin fast And if they run, you can still degen them and shoot them down with a couple needlings

Edit:
Yet another place that is still active - the 55 giant run along the northern parts of snakes dance. Tricky, use Mo/W and balanced stance + sprint. Good luck!

^I think thats the thread you were thinking of. That's my "new age farming" thread that I posted up right after the griffon nerf. It contains my version (which was quickly and poorly tested by me) of Ice Imp Farming and further into the thread an updated version of it. It's worth reading I guess, although some of the info is outdated.

I'm glad you took the initiative to go out and find other places to farm (I would do so but I'm too busy on guru at the moment, doing a 6 page paper, and gotta go out to get my copy of nightfall ). Cheers. -Tsunami

Heh, I remember reading that now, thats pretty old school but nothing much has changed since then.

Oops, forgot to say leave in troll unguent too

inspired hex isnt worth taking now for two reasons:
Reduced energy return and mind freeze is reapplied so fast.

For hilarity's sake, the skill damage counter on the left piles up so fast. It displayed 108 maelstrom hits, 50 ice spears, and 23 mind freezes in the course of 1 minute lol. Ouchness
